High growth, tech start up, big data, needs business facing technologist

Lets imagine for a moment…..

You work for one of the most successful start-ups in the world, their growth is unrivalled and they’re currently valued around $20bn, that’s pre-IPO. There is an aura of mystery that surrounds your company due to their highly confidential and VIP list of clientele.

Their world-renown expertise in crunching big data explains how you’re able to attract and retain numerous clients in a wide-reaching range of sectors from finance to energy, healthcare and even candy. In case there was any doubt, this company is not a unicorn.

The alarm goes off and you jump out of bed, eager delve deep into your current mission and to further your know-how into some of the most important industries of our time.  You are an agnostic developer that thrives on using technology merely as a tool to solve the problem at-hand. You are constantly learning new languages, keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and teaching others about your own superpowers.

You balance your time between banging out lines of code to solve the most abstract of problems, and decomposing the basics of what you’re doing to those around you, because you know that collaboration is key.

You are a highly skilled software developer who can face down every technical challenge on the front lines of a deployment as rapidly as they surface, all with a smile on your face. Integration, installation, hardware configuration, data scripting/massaging, and the ability to deal with customer specific use-cases come as naturally to you as the fundamentals of computer science.

You dive into complicated programming tasks on your own because letting them sit unfinished would bore you to the point of madness. You pick up books, pursue technical challenges, and work to expand your prowess for the same reason. You’ve written tight and clean code for at least a few years, and your technical chops are on par with those who write code all day, every day. Additionally, your customer-facing and project management skills are solid.

You are invited to weekly wine tastings, have your haircut on-site and drop your laundry off at the office. You unwind with some of the smartest tech minds in the world, over one of the three meals prepared by on-site chefs, while catching the game on the projector in the media room. The cultural philosophy at your office puts emphasis on eating regularly and maintaining a fit lifestyle allowing you to focus on what really matters.

Your holiday time isn’t tracked, your dogs can come to work and the beer is on tap. Besides being generously compensated on top of this, your brain will not cease to be stimulated by some of the most complex and interesting challenges in tech, all the while making a tangible and realisable difference to the world.  It’s a no-brainer as to why you can so easily spend up to 60 hours at the office a week.  Need we say more?

So, you think you’d be a good fit? What are you waiting for? Stop pretending.
